Andrew Macdougall is a Freelance Journalist based in Melbourne, Australia with 15 years experience in the digital media industry.

Attending his first Melbourne Mustangs ice hockey game in 2010, a love for the sport quickly grew and Andrew found a passion for creating online media.

Founding and Co-founding multiple media platforms, including On the Fly Hockey 2010-15 and Hockey Hype Australia 2023-24 (now Oz Hockey Media), Andrew has appeared for various online publications, radio, podcasts and is play-by-play commentator for the Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League.

Some of the organisations Andrew has worked for include, Football Victoria, FanSided, The Inner Sanctum and The Queerness among others.

Furthermore, Andrew is experienced in graphic design, creating sports edits and imagery for Dub Zone Australia along with other media outlets.

In 2023 Andrew launched the Pride & Puck Podcast. A monthly podcast that highlights the queer ice hockey community, with guests from across the global coming on to talk about their journey within the sport.

Andrew is a strong advocate for the bisexual community, spending time on the Melbourne Bisexual Network (now Bi+ Pride Victoria) committee and writing numerous articles for different publications.

Through this Andrew has appeared on Joy 94.9 radio talking about his bisexual experiences, giving voice to a community that is often misunderstood and highlighting inclusive ice hockey around the world.

Outside of his media commitments, Andrew enjoys spending time with family and friends, cycling, going to the gym, a nice coffee and true crime documentaries.
